Just a few hours each month can make a meaningful difference. Camp Fire Lone Star youth and adult volunteers are provided with training materials and staff support. As a volunteer, you’ll give service to others, get involved in your community, be recognized for your achievements, and—last, but not least—have some fun yourself.
Mentors – Volunteers will be assigned to specific youth based on the needs and interests of both youth and volunteer. Volunteers are expected to spend a minimum of one hour per week mentoring their assigned youth. 4:00-6:00 pm, Monday through Friday for Kids Club. As needed for Employment Program
Tutors – Volunteers will be assigned to specific students based on the academic needs of the student and the skills of the volunteer. Volunteers will spend a minimum of one hour per week assisting the student with homework and reading/math improvement. 4:00-5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Clerical – Volunteers will be assigned to an administrative staff based on the needs on the staff and the skills of the volunteer. Volunteers will spend a minimum of one hour per week assisting the staff with clerical tasks such as filing, correspondence, and data entry. 8-5pm, Mon-Fri.
Job Readiness Trainers – Volunteers to conduct Job Readiness Workshops for Employment Program participants. Typically held for 2-3 hours during the week, these workshops cover professionalism, resumes & applications.
