Kids Club Out of School Time (OST) Program offers a comprehensive approach to building caring confident leaders prepared for success in school and life. A continuum of services is offered through programs designed to improve academic performance, character building, and self-confidence. Programs also focus on developing and improving social skills, and strengthening families. All are alternatives to substance abuse, gangs, violence and experimentation with sexual activity during risky after-school hours. This program reassures parents that their children are safe as they balance work and family life.
Educational competency is critical to a child’s success. As a Camp Fire participant, each child receives daily homework assistance. For the challenged student, tutoring is available in one or more subjects. The primary focus is reading and math. Curriculum provided at each site is in alignment with the respective school systems. Students who embrace the program develop strong skills, improve school attendance and improve grades. Surveys completed by parents verify improvement in performance and endorse the program as a safe and secure place for their child.
Camp Fire children participate in a variety of activities to build social skills and learn positive behaviors, both important to the development of the child. Through service activities, children design and implement projects to answer a community need. Select activities involve all the family members.
