We have a rich legacy! You might remember us as Camp Fire Girls or Camp Fire USA, which were key parts of our organizational journey. What’s kept us thriving? Our commitment to diversity and inclusion from the very beginning; incorporating youth voice into all we do; our intentional effort to reflect, evolve, and use cutting-edge research to best meet the needs of today’s families; and remarkable people like you!
With more than 23 years of youth development experience working with youth from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and socio-economic environments, I am passionate about helping youth thrive through positive youth development, especially with at-risk youth who do not have the same opportunities as many of their peers. I lead the program delivery and expansion effort for Camp Fire Lone Star, specializing in developing high quality experiences including after-school, camp, and leadership programs. As a certified external assessor through the Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality, I have served on the task force for the Dallas Health & Human Services Commission to develop minimum standards for out-of-school time. I have has a BAAS degree with an emphasis in Education from Midwestern State University. In my spare time, I enjoy camping and road trips with my husband, singing with my singing sisters and playing with my pup, Redd.
New to Texas, hailing from the California San Francisco Bay area, my educational background is in Sociology and Early Childhood Education. I have more than 10 years of experience as an educator of children and adults alike, in the non-profit arena. I have a long standing passion for helping people realize their worth and potential to do great things. I really enjoy bringing the fun to most situations, whenever possible. You may catch me around the Dallas area hula hooping at a park, exploring the city by bike, out for a long walk/hike, or “killing it” at a Karaoke night. I hope to bring to the Camp Fire Lone Star Program my genuine love for seeing youth learn and thrive, while providing the tools to help them do so. See you around!
